Obituary: Dr. Gene M. Ross of Little Rock, formerly of Prescott and Emmet, went to the be his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. He was born on July 26, 1938 in Murfreesboro, AR to Gilbert E. Ross and Beulah Ann Frasher Ross. As a young child, they moved to Prescott where he grew up and graduated high school. Gene received his undergraduate degree from Henerson State Teachers College and later earned his master and doctorate degrees in education from East Texas State University in Commerce. He spent more than 40 years dedicated to educating young people, serving as a teacher and school superintendent in Emmet and as a teacher and principal in Hope. After retiring from education, he became a United Methodist Minister and pastored churches for nearly 20 years. He was a member of the former Midway United Methodist Church and was currently an associate member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Gene is survived by his wife of more than 66 years, Frances Avery Ross, who he deeply loved; his son Mike Ross (Krystal) of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Sydney Pack (Drew) of Pittsburgh, PA, Alex Ross of Mena and their mother, Holly Ross; three step-grandchildren, Christopher Thrailkill, Spencer Thrailkill (Preston), and Travis Thrailkill, all of Mena. He is also survived by two step-great grandchildren, Presley Thrailkill of Little Rock and Piper Thrailkill of Mena. His life focus was serving others and sharing his deep belief and faith in God. He loved his family, church and following the Arkansas Razorback baseball team and the St. Louis Cardinals. He had a special bond and love for his granddaughter, Sydney, who helped care for him these last few weeks. The family wishes to thank Fox Ridge Chenal Assisted Living and Baptist Hospital for the professional care they provided. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 4 pm at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with the Reverend Roy Smith officiating. Visitation will occur prior to the funeral beginning at 3 pm. Burial will follow in the Midway Cemetery near Prescott. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brazzel Cornish the Funeral Home of Hope.
