Obituary: Clifton Olin Butler, Jr. age 87 of Bodcaw, Arkansas went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 21, 2025. He was born March 28, 1937, to the late Cliff and Merle Butler of Bodcaw, Arkansas. Clifton graduated from Bodcaw High School in 1956, while in high school he excelled at playing basketball. After graduation he was drafted into the U S Army, where he was deployed to serve in Fairbanks, Alaska. Upon his return, he married Naomi Caudle and worked at the Water Company in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1962 the couple moved to Bodcaw, Arkansas where he built two poultry houses and raised pullets for Corn Belt, where he was recognized in 1978 for Outstanding Performance in Poultry Brooding Production. In 1985 the family was recognized as Farm Family of the Year in Nevada County and Southwest District Farm Family. He served on the Board of the Farm Service Company for Hempstead/Nevada Counties for twenty-four years and Board of Directors of the Nevada County Farm Bureau. He raised beef cattle and grew watermelons as well. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and drinking coffee at Bodcaw Grocery. Clifton enjoyed deer hunting in Arkansas and elk hunting in Colorado. He was a faithful member of Bodcaw Baptist Church where he served as a deacon until his health prevented him from attending. Clifton is survived by his wife Naomi, daughter Amanda Cooley of Bodcaw, Arkansas, son John Mark Butler of Bodcaw, Arkansas, grandson Dustin Cooley and wife Chelsea and great granddaughters Emma and Elizabeth of Spring Hill, Arkansas, sister Elizabeth Kruithof and husband, Johnny of Bossier City, Louisiana, and brother Mack Butler of Shreveport, Louisiana, and many precious nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Merle Butler and brothers Wayne Butler, Lindell Butler, Jimmy Joe Butler, and Jack Butler, sister, June Butler O’Keefe and son-in-law, Jackie Cooley. Honoring Clifton as pallbearers will be Damon Williams, Todd Brown, Ronnie Butler, Tommy Boyd, James Hastings, and Jeremy Williams. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Dillard. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Bodcaw Baptist Church with Bro. Bruce Porter, Bro. Ed Phillips and Bro. Joe Brown officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery following the service. Services are under the direction of A O Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, Arkansas.
