Obituary: Shirley Lewis, 78, of Prescott passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 in Texarkana. She was born December 24,1947 in Bodcaw, AR to Morrey P. and Lottie Relaford Nichols. Shirley was a beautician for several years then had a 20-year nursing career; after nursing she drove a truck for 10 years. When she retired from trucking, she would sit with people in their home for care and comfort. Shirley loved to sew, camp, fish, and spend time with her family. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Orin Wendell Carlton and Marshall E Lewis; three brothers Walter, Tillmon, and Buck Nichols; two sisters Rosalee Bustin and Dorothy Huckabee; a son James Lewis. Survivors include five sons, Marshall R. Lewis, John R. Carlton (Lacie Looper), James W. Carlton, Roger L. Lewis (Vanessa), and Morrey D Carlton (Donna); one brother Buddy Nichols; thirteen grandchildren Heather Estrada, Joshua Lewis, Brittany N Sullivan, Trevor Monk, Tyler Monk, Crystal Hurt, Jennifer Beck, Kenneth “AJ” Jordan, Thomas Jordan, Jessica Honnell, Dylan Lewis, Abigal Case and Sarah A. Lewis; twenty-four great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, January 3, 2025 Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home. Saturday January 4, 2025 viewing will be available from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Sunday, January 5, 2024 at Union Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Bodcaw, under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
