Obituary: | Warren Wright Broome, 100 years old, passed away on March 21, 2022. He was born on January 12, 1922 in Kathwood, South Carolina to James Manford and Ruby Brinson Broome. Warren enlisted in the Navy in June of 1942 and served until August of 1972. During this time, he fought in three Wars, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked for RCA Service Company in Washington, D.C. Warren was a lover of history and a wonderful storyteller. He was a collector of books and enjoyed spending time in his library. He led a rich life filled with laughter and will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Delta Broome; wife, Martha Lou Broome; daughter, Linda Broome; son, Raymond Broome; sisters, Doris Covington, Thelma Jones, and Lois Rinker. He is survived by his beloved dog, Tutu, who ruled the house; brother-in-law, James Oliver (Eloise); brother-in-law, Brown Oliver (Maxine), sister-in-law, Jewel Burroughs; numerous nieces and nephews; his church family and a host of friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 2:00PM at Fairview United Methodist Church in Camden. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Kat Burchfield will officiate. Burial will be at Bluff City Cemetery. |
