Obituary: | Mr. Olen Ray “Big O” Dorman, age 72 of Hope, Arkansas passed away, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in Texarkana, Texas. He was born May 5, 1947 in Bodcaw, Arkansas to Curtis Green and Marguerite Altom Dorman. He was the retired co-owner of Spates Florist, an avid deer hunter and fisherman, bee keeper, and a member of Unity Baptist Church where he was a member of their Choir. Olen served in the United States Army and was a reserve officer for Hope Police and Hempstead County Sheriff’s department. He was a member of the Hope Lions Club and the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Department Dive and Rescue team. He was a van driver for the DAV of Arkansas, served as Justice of the Peace on the Hempstead County Quorum Court for over 16 years, and a former deputy coroner for Hempstead County. Olen was a loving devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of over 42 years, Deborah “Deb” Dorman, three daughters, Laurie Phillips husband James of Bentonville, AR, Shelly Harris of Bentonville, AR, Shannon Richardson husband Brandon of Carriere, MS, four brothers, Curtis “Curt” Dorman wife Mary Anna of Bodcaw, AR, Herbert Dorman wife Evelyn of Marysville, AR, John Dorman wife Danielle of Pasadena, TX, Larry Dorman wife Diana of Bodcaw, AR, five sisters, Nancy Fore of Willisville, AR, Mary Carlisle husband Chris of Patmos, AR, Geanie Townsend husband Ken of Patmos, AR, Martha Moran husband Cliff of Fairfield, TX, Marie Hall husband John of Mehia, TX, seven grandchildren, Kristopher Hobson, Wade Hobson, Colton Phillips, Rachel Harris, Callie Harris, Olivia Harris, Michael Richardson, three great grandchildren, Dakota, Tennyson, Lucy, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, January 17, 2020 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home 1001 South Main Street Hope, Arkansas 71801. Funeral service will be 10:00am, Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Unity Baptist Church with Bro. Glenn Tropp officiating. Burial to follow at Bodcaw #1 Cemetery in Bodcaw, Arkansas.
