Obituary: | Catherine Christie Arrington, 93, of Helena, Alabama, formerly of Camden, Arkansas passed away peacefully April 19, 2017 in Helena. Born September 11, 1923, in Wesson, Arkansas, she is preceded in death by her parents, James Milton and Addie Alice (Lewis) Christie and her late husband of 65+ years, Stanley T. Arrington, all of Camden, Arkansas. She and Stanley were married November 1, 1946, at Adams Chapel near Camden. Catherine graduated from Magnolia High School, Magnolia, Arkansas, in 1941, and went on to have a fulfilling career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she was Chief Operator of the Camden office for many years. As a retiree, Catherine was a member and volunteer with various organizations and groups in Camden, including the Camden Flower Club and the Camden Quilting Club. She and Stanley were very active with the Ouachita County Hospital Auxiliary and were instrumental in developing the Hospital Call Careline for shut-ins. Survivors include her daughter, Alice Annette Arrington Lobell, her grandson and his wife, Jonathan and Brook Hollabaugh, and two granddaughters, Madison and Riley, all of Helena, Alabama. “Aunt Cat” as so many called her is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including a great, great niece that is her namesake. Services will be Monday, April 24, 2017, at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel with visitation at 1:00 pm followed by services at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Liberty Church of Christ cemetery in the Troy, Arkansas community. |
