Obituary: | Juanita Victoria Butler Benson, age of 95 Camden, AR passed peacefully and with sound mind from this life to her heavenly home on April 28, 2022. She was the daughter of John Ramsey and Sallie Butler. Juanita graduated Fairview Public School in 1944, received her Bachelor degree in education from Bethel College in McKenzie, TN and later her Masters degree from Ouachita Baptist University. Juanita was a devoted public-school teacher for the Fairview Public School system for over 31 years. Juanita was also employed prior to teaching at Morgan- Lindsey's and International Paper in Camden. She always possessed a very strong work ethic and did her best to instill that in her children and her future generations. After retiring from teaching in 1990, she kept her grandchildren during the days that her daughters worked, and taught them about loving the Lord, going to church and being good vegetable gardeners as well a love for growing flowers. Being a schoolteacher, she saved her books, paper, calendars etc. to give these grandchildren a lot of educational experience and knowledge for their future. She believed in getting all the good from those valuable resources and being a good steward of God's blessings. Juanita was a member of Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church for most of her 95 years and was dedicated to serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved her church family and many friends. During her life she served on many committees and boards, making lots of life-long friends all across the state and Cumberland Presbyterian denomination. She also eagerly worked in the kitchen at the CP Church Camp in Morrilton known as Camp "Peniel" for many summers in order to be sure her grandchildren would go to camp without getting "homesick" and even because she loved serving God there with the crew. In addition to her parents, Juanita is preceded in death by her husband Harlan Bryant Benson, two sisters Opal Langley (Paul), and Katie Butler, three brothers - Newton Butler (Iris), Joseph Butler (Margaret) and George Butler (Lucille) and two son-in-laws - Tommy Morgan and Paul Lucas. She is survived by her three daughters - Lanita Stinnett (Bill), Harlene Vick (Richard) and Janet Lucas. She was very fond of and called Mamaw by her grandchildren Beau Morgan (Jenny), Jake Morgan (Erica) and Billy Morgan, Joshua Lucas (Kimberly), Wesley Lucas (Holly), and Jessica Starnes, step-grandsons Justin Starnes (Sarah), Jonathan Vick (Jessica), Brandon Vick (Tiffany) all of Camden, 10 great grandchildren, lots of nieces, nephews, and so many friends. Juanita loved her "Great Grands" who spent many wonderful hours playing at her house and was always committed to giving them each gifts on birthdays, Christmas, Valentine's and even Halloween which was her birthday. She even decorated sacks for each occasion and there was always candy in those sacks! We will all miss her being here with us! Visitation will take place at Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 01, 2022 followed by the service at 3:00 pm. Juanita will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at the Bluff City Cemetery following the service. The family extends their grateful thanks to Mrs. Frances Cross and Susan Teague for their devoted love and care you each gave her. This helped allow our sweet Mother the luxury of being able to remain living in the home she loved and enjoyed for over 68 years. In addition the family express's their thanks to the caring staff at Ouachita County Hospice Care and Proctor Funeral Home for their professionalism and kindness each provided. |
