Long time story of a petrified man

My Grand-mother took me to see him at the funeral home down town when I was a child ( and my brother and sister) I was told by my grandmother they found him in the park dead and they embalmed him and kept him for someone to identify him. No one ever did. I don't know why he got so hard, but he was there a very long time. I am 61 and was a young child when I saw him. I never heard he turned to wood, only thart he was continually perserved.
